Falmouth To Fowey Race Report

Interesting race on Saturday. Big tide running south at the start with decent wind to start and then was forecast to die off – which it did!! Course was FM to Fowey and then shortened to Gwineas, as we were warned it might be. Only Inn Spirit did not cross early in the IRC class and there was initial confusion as to who was across and who not, but the Starter kindly got us sorted. We then got decent winds for about 40 mins, which then died. Bellissima caught up with Inn Spirit and were within talking range, and then Inn Spirit got a lift for a few mins and they got 1/2 mile away and eventually beat Bellissima into third. Triggers Broom won the IRC and Agnes the YTC, with Aura winning the 2H YTC – results are on this website. Three boats out of four finished in IRC and four of nine in the YTC. Despite the wind and the rain, we all had a good day and the Fowey Gallants Sailing Club welcomed us for the Prize Giving – thank you, Andrew Dellow!
