Race Report – Falmouth To Fowey Race April 13th 2024
The first race of the season attracted 17 boats , 8 in IRC and 9 in RYA YTC (3 short-handed). There was no rain, some sunshine and a SW wind between 8 and 20kn, averaging 15kn. The course was mainly downwind and favoured those with a symetrical rather then asymetrical spinnaker, as they could sail at better angles on a dead run. Three IRC boats started 5 minutes early and were declared OCS. One boat retired. We all had a great sail and were welcomed by RFYC where the prize giving occurred.
Congratulations to Andrew Laming and crew in Afrita for winning the IRC race and to Paddy Cronin on Allsorts for winning the RYA YTC race. Tim Lukes in Pogolyre won the RYA YTC Short Handed.
